FocalPoint Platform Reference Designs
Fulcrum has developed a number of reference designs that demonstrate the capabilities of the FocalPoint devices and enable customers to get to market quickly with integrated, low-cost, and differentiated product offerings. The most commonly-leveraged designs are the Amsterdam 48-port 10G Ethernet platform with 10GBASE-T interfaces, the Barcelona 48-port 10G Ethernet platform with SFP+ interfaces, the Monaco 24-port 10G Ethernet platform with SFP+ interfaces, and the Vegas 48-port 1GBASE-T platform.
Amsterdam 48-port 10GBASE-T Reference Design
Amsterdam is an efficient 48-port 10GBASE-T reference design co-developed with Aquantia, which contains their quad 10GBASE-T PHY and the FocalPoint FM6364 switch chip. The platform offers 48 10GBASE-T and 4 QSFP (40G) interfaces. The Amsterdam platform can be used to rapidly and exhaustively evaluate the performance and flexibility of the PHY and switch, either in a test environment or a live data center network.

The Amsterdam reference design contains a Freescale MPC8536 control processor, which can be used to program the platform for a variety of configurations, and provide health and activity information as requested. The platform also contains Fulcrum's FocalPoint Software, which contains embedded Linux OS, FocalPoint API, and TestPoint test and configuration tools.
Barcelona 48-port SFP+ Reference Design
Barcelona is a 1U 48-port Top-of-Rack switch reference design for the FocalPoint FM6364 Ethernet switch chip and can be used to rapidly and exhaustively evaluate the performance and flexibility of the device, either in a test environment or a live data center network. It contains 48 SFP+ (1/10G) and 4 QSFP (40G) interfaces.

The Barcelona reference design contains a Freescale MPC8536 control processor, which can be used to program the platform for a variety of configurations, and provide health and activity information as requested. The platform also contains Fulcrum's FocalPoint Software, which contains embedded Linux OS, FocalPoint API, and TestPoint test and configuration tools.
Barcelona also includes Fulcrum's VantagePoint advanced congestion notification and management IP, loaded in an FPGA and accessible via the control plane for enhancement, modification, or testing.
Monaco 24-port 10-Gigabit Ethernet Switch Chip Reference Design
Monaco is a cost-effective 24-port SFP+ reference design for the FocalPoint 10G Ethernet switch family and can be used to rapidly and exhaustively evaluate the performance and flexibility of the FocalPoint FM4224, either in a test environment or a live data center network.

The Monaco reference design contains a Freescale 8543 control processor, which can be used to program the platform for a variety of configurations, and provide health and activity information as requested. The platform also contains Fulcrum's FocalPoint Software, which contains embedded Linux OS, FocalPoint API, TestPoint test and configuration tools, and (optionally) ControlPoint UNS switching and routing software.
Monaco also includes Fulcrum's VantagePoint advanced congestion notification and management IP, loaded in an FPGA and accessible via the control plane for enhancement, modification, or testing.
Vegas 48-port 1-Gigabit Ethernet Switch Chip Reference Design
The Vegas reference design showcases the virtues of the FocalPoint FM4112 1G Ethernet switch chip, offering 48 1GBASE-T ports, plus up to 8 10G Ethernet ports (with either CX4 or SFP+ interfaces) in a compact 1U rack-mountable chassis. Vegas delivers 1GbE latency well under 1uS (by far the best in the industry), along with a fully-provisioned architecture with no internal system-level bottlenecks.
