Fulcrum has used its Monaco reference platform to successfully demonstrate interoperability with other vendors’ products at a recent UNH Data Center Bridging (DCB) Plugfest. Monaco, which contains a FocalPoint FM4224 10GbE switch chip, was run through multiple tests including Priority Flow Control (PFC), Enhanced Transmission Selection (ETS) and Data Center Bridging Exchange (DCBx) protocol. The FM4224 met all the DCB requirements.

A recent report issued by the Dell’Oro group predicts 10Gb Ethernet LAN on Motherboard shipments will exceed 10GbE adapter card shipments in 2009. This will significantly drive down the cost of network connections and is another example of how the economic advantages of converged Ethernet will play a significant role in the new data center and cloud computing.
